Afrashad, a $15,500 KEESEP yearling that blossomed into a $500,000 OBSAPR juvenile, made his debut on the all-weather surface at Lingfield in July of 2004 and cruised home a five-length winner. Off for nearly two years after that performance, he resurfaced here off a series of sparkling workouts. The chestnut colt sped right to the lead, dashed off a half in :44.12 and widened his advantage down the lane despite drifting late to take it by 4 3/4 lengths as the 3-2 chalk. Cool Springs Saint (Sweetsouthernsaint) was second best. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0, $34,989.
