  Gulfstream Park, Race 1, Msw, 32,000, 3yo, 1m, 1:35 2/5, ft

  Bernardini, C, 3, by A.P. Indy

1st Dam: Cara Rafaela (GISW, $884,452), by Quiet American
2nd Dam: Oil Fable, by Spectacular Bid
3rd Dam: Northern Fable, by Northern Dancer

Bernardini crossed the line fourth, beaten 5 1/4 by Exclusive Quality in his six-furlong Gulfstream debut Jan. 7. Given some time at Payson off that effort, the bay recorded six registered works, including a five-furlong bullet in 1:03 Feb. 9. Adding Lasix for this, the 9-5 favorite hit the gate at the start, but quickly recovered to mix it up on the front end through :24 and :46 2/5 splits. With Edgar Prado in the irons, the Darley colorbearer began to edge clear at the head of the stretch and opened daylight to score by a widening 7 3/4 lengths. High Finance (Talk is Money) was second best. The winner is a half to Ile De France (Storm Cat), GISP, $125,300. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-0, $20,480.
