Tatsuji, a half-brother to Cliquot (Bertrando), GSW, $638,260; Lily's Lad (Bertrando), MSP, $262,207; and Stockholder (Bertrando), GSP, $176,569, had been training smartly in recent weeks at Hollywood, but went postward at 10-1 for his career opener. The bay colt broke a bit slowly and found himself trailing the field through the opening half-mile. He got into gear on the far turn, headed Three Points (Point Given) in the stretch and, despite lugging in a bit, went on to graduate by two lengths. He was a $250,000 KEESEP yearling purchase. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $27,600. O: Mr & Mrs Jerome S Moss | B: King Bloodstock (IRE) | T: John A Shirreffs |
