Bunood sported her owner’s second colors for this debut and was virtually ignored by punters, but defied the uninformed to score in taking style. The bay homebred stalked the leading pair in third from the outset and maintained her position until asked for an effort approaching the final quarter mile. Driven to the fore inside the final furlong, the 40-1 longshot utilized all her reserves nearing the line to withstand the late surge of Scotch Pancake (GB) (Selkirk) by a short head.
