Chenchikova, a full sister to High Chaparral (Ire) (2x Ch. Turf Horse-US, Hwt. 3yo Colt-Eng & Ire at 11-14f, Hwt. Older Horse-Ire at 9.5-11f, MG1SW-Eng, Ire, U.S., MG1SP-Fr, $5,391,888), was held in high enough regard to merit an entry in the Sept. 24 G1 Filles’ Mile at Newmarket. The well-bred filly exited this debut contest with that reputation duly enhanced after posting a decisive success under the finishing-school guidance of Kieren Fallon. Breaking smartly from a wide draw to track the leaders down the back straight, the 5-4 favorite received a first lesson in encouragement to remain in contention rounding the home turn. Ushered to the fore approaching the final furlong, she responded instantly for one smack of Fallon’s cane when tackled by Nautical Design (Seeking the Gold) with 150 yards to go and stretched to the line from there to finish two lengths in advance of that rival for an impressive win. "She’s got a great attitude and will appreciate going further," Fallon commented. "This is a good track to educate horses and she will learn a lot from that run." Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, Eu11,747. O: Susan Magnier | B: Tower Bloodstock | T: Aidan O’Brien |
