  Saratoga, Race 5, Msw, 45,000, 2yo, f, 6f, 1:12 1/5, ft

Halo Humor, F, 2, by Distorted Humor

1st Dam: Gilded Halo, by Gilded Time
2nd Dam: Careless Halo, by Sunny's Halo
3rd Dam: Careless Moment, by Baffle

On paper it looked like a wide-open maiden race of a dozen mostly unraced juveniles, but Halo Humor ran away and hid from an overmatched field. The Steve Asmussen trainee, making her bow with Lasix as the public’s 3-1 second pick, dueled a rival into submission through a half in :46 2/5 and kept on motoring as jockey Jerry Bailey kept her busy, sailing under the wire 7 1/4 lengths clear. A 13-1 shot, Better Now (Thunder Gulch), was last early, but ran on to complete the exacta. Favored firster Unbridled Tale (Tale of the Cat), who was scratched out of last week’s GII Adirondack S., was sixth. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $27,000.
