Avalon, a 1,000,000gns TATHOU yearling, was left in the G1 St Leger at Doncaster Sept. 10 at the latest forfeit stage and started his belated debut as the even-money favorite. Green in the early stages, he came in for encouragement from Kieren Fallon at the end of the back straight and received a slap with the whip after the turn for home. Picking up soon after, he surged to the front passing the quarter pole before being coaxed to a comfortable 2½-length success from Tammany (Ire) (In the Wings {GB}). "All he does is eat and sleep and has a great constitution," his trainer Aidan O’Brien said. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, Eur9,328.
