Hailing from an outstanding Darby Dan family, Diabolical was knocked down to W.D. North for $62,000 at last year’s KEESEP sale and turned into a pinhooking home run at the OBSFEB sale a few months back. The attractive chestnut colt turned heads when he breezed a quarter mile in a bullet :21.2 during the first under-tack show and was taken by current connections for $300,000, the co-fourth highest price at the event. The 11-10 chalk broke alertly from the inside, cut the corner into the stretch and pulled impressively clear to win by 9 3/4 lengths. Sinkwich (Trippi) was second, a neck better than Tahoe Warrior (Carson City). Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $25,800.
