Simply Because got off to a slow start in her debut at Santa Anita last October and was never in the hunt, finishing eighth. The bay filly disappeared after that effort and was off at 14-1 in her return. Sent right to the front, she dashed through a half in :43.80 and left 5-2 chalk Callmeluckylucy (Lucky Lionel) in the dust down the lane, opening it up for a five-length victory. The winner was a $135,000 KEESEP yearling.
