  Keeneland, Race 9, Msw, 49,550, 3yo, f, 6f, 1:11 1/5, ft

Talented, F, 3, by Fusaichi Pegasus

1st Dam: Our Dear Ruth (SW), by Baldski
2nd Dam: Nany's Appeal, by Valid Appeal
3rd Dam: Nany, by Great Above

A $700,000 FTSAUG yearling purchase, Talented lived up to her name, winning off here as tons the best. The bay filly was no secret in her Mar. 21 debut at Gulfstream Park and set fast fractions, only to be caught at the wire by a neck as the 7-10 favorite. She earned a 95 Beyer Speed Figure for that effort, stamping her the 1-5 chalk to go one better in this spot. Guided over towards the inside by John Velazquez, Talented cut out leisurely splits, coasted into the stretch on a widening lead and cantered under the line some eighth lengths clear of Sanibel Breeze (Exploit), who in turn was 10 lengths clear of third-placed Littlebitoflove (High Yield). The winner was produced from a half sister to GISW Nany’s Sweep. Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, $37,990.
