2nd Dam: Smooth Bore, by His Majesty
3rd Dam: French Leave, by Damascus

Eswarah, the 10th foal from the 1986 1000 Guineas and Oaks heroine winner Midway Lady, had been transferred from the care of Ben Hanbury, who retired last season. An entry in the Epsom Classic herself June 3, the homebred was keen in the early stages, but settled for cover tracking the leading group. Eased out from her pocket as Alumni (GB) (Selkirk) was committed with three furlongs remaining, the 5-2 favorite lengthened in pursuit and reeled in that rival at the eighth pole. Driven out in the closing stages, she asserted to record a comfortable 2 1/2-length success. "Ben Hanbury thought highly of her and told me this is the best the mare had had," commented conditioner Michael Jarvis. "She’s won her maiden easily and an Oaks trial over this trip is the logical next step." The winner is a half sister to Umniyatee (GB) (Green Desert), G1SP-Ire; and Itnab (GB) (Green Desert), GSW-Eng.
