Desideratum, who made a promising debut behind Kavafi (Ire) in a newcomers’ event at Chantilly last September, never gave supporters a moment’s worry here in his first start since as he cruised to an imperious maiden success. Settled just behind the lead for much of this sophomore bow, the 11-10 favorite made smooth progress to lead soon after turning for home. The homebred was in splendid isolation after going clear inside the final quarter and eased to the wire under a motionless Christophe Soumillon from the eighth pole to account for Loup de Mer (Ger) (Law Society) by an impressive four lengths. The bay was produced by a half sister to champion miler Charnwood Forest (Ire) and G1SW Medaaly (GB). Lifetime Record: 2 starts, 1 win, 1 place, €16,100. O: Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum | B: Darley | T: Andre Fabre |
