  Aqueduct, Race 3, Msw, 41,000, 3yo, f, 6f, 1:11 3/5, ft

  Contrition, F, 3, by Pulpit

1st Dam: Easy Now (GISW, $359,466), by Danzig
2nd Dam: Relaxing, by Buckpasser
3rd Dam: Marking Time, by To Market

Contrition had been training forwardly in recent weeks and went postward as the 9-2 fourth choice in the wagering. Breaking from the rail with Stewart Elliot in the irons, the bay came away well, but conceded the inside to favored Lemon Drop Gal (Lemon Drop Kid) as they raced down the backstretch. She took to the outside on the turn and collared the favorite at the top of the stretch. Asked for a bit more, Contrition switched gears and opened up smartly to graduate by seven lengths under a hand ride. The three-year-old, led out unsold for $130,000 as a yearling at Keeneland September, is the seventh foal from the regally bred Easy Now. A graded stakes winner at two and heroine of the GI Go for Wand S. at three, Easy Now is a half sister to champion Easy Goer (Alydar) and to Grade I winner Cadillacing (Alydar).

Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $24,600.
