I was looking forward to seeing Union Rags in person at Monmouth Park in a few weeks and was so sad to learn that he is injured and won't race again in 2012. Many of our top horses are coming down with injuries, and we don't even know about the big number of average horses who are breaking down. I'm not speaking drugs here again, although they can play a role in this. Rather, I'm wondering about their being asked to run and run hard as two-year-olds before bones are completely developed. Your opinion on this would be appreciated.
