Longines Ceremony To Be Streamed On-Line

The finish of the G1 QIPCO Irish Champion S. could have a bearing on the winner of the 2016 Longines World's Best Horse Race | Racing Post

The World's Best Racehorse and World's Best Horse Race Ceremony, sponsored by Longines, will be held Jan. 24 in Claridges of London and will be streamed live on the internet, beginning at 13:30 GMT/8:30 EST. Viewers will be able to watch the ceremony at both longines.com and ifhaonline.org. American Pharoah (Pioneerof The Nile) scooped the award for 2015 and two of his compatriots California Chrome (Lucky Pulpit) and Arrogate (Unbridled's Song) are currently heading the 2016 list followed closely by Australian star Winx (Aus) (Street Cry {Ire}). For the second year the award for the Longines World's Best Horse Race will be presented. This category recognises the best-rated race of the highest-rated Group 1 international races as established for the year by a panel of international handicappers. The ratings of the top four finishers in each race serve as basis for the assessment. The G1 Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe was the inaugural winner and this year other potential contenders include the GI Breeders' Cup Classic, the G1 Juddmonte International and The G1 QIPCO Irish Champion S.
