Limato Ground Dependent in 'Foret'

Henry Candy is keeping his fingers crossed for fast ground at Chantilly this weekend to allow Limato (Ire) (Tagula {Ire}) to line up in the G1 Qatar Prix de la Foret. The brilliant G1 July Cup hero has not been seen in competitive action since beating all bar Mecca's Angel (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) over five furlongs in the G1 Nunthorpe S. at York in August. Limato finished runner-up in the Foret at Longchamp 12 months ago and Candy sees the seven-furlong Group 1 as the perfect target for his charge.

“He's in good form and we're planning to run on Sunday,” said Candy. “They're so confident of a dry week I believe they're putting some water on [the track], which isn't great news for me, but there you go. If we didn't go to France, we could look at the G2 Challenge S. at Newmarket. I know it's only a Group 2, but it might be of interest.”

Candy also confirmed his other star sprinter Twilight Son (GB) (Kyllachy {GB}) on target for the G1 QIPCO British Champions Sprint S. The 4-year-old landed the G1 Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot in June and while he failed to fire in the July Cup, he will return to Berkshire with major claims on Champions Day.

“We're very happy with him,” the trainer added.
