The unbeaten 3-year-old filly turf superstar Lady Eli (Divine Park) is nearing a return to training, according to co-owners Sol Kumin and Jay Hanley of Sheep Pond Partners.

Perfect through her first six attempts–including the GI Belmont Oaks Invitational S. most recently July 4 and the 2014 GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Santa Anita–Lady Eli has continued to make significant progress from her well-documented battle with laminitis at Dell Ridge Farm in Kentucky.

“Since her arrival at Dell Ridge, we have received positive reports from both Dez Ryan and Dr. Fraley, so we are cautiously optimistic that she will be able to ship to Palm Meadows sometime between now and the end of the year,” Hanley reported. “Assuming that Lady Eli is well enough to ship to Florida this year, she will reunite with [trainer] Chad [Brown] and, from there, Sol [Kumin] and I will work closely with him in both monitoring her health and in formulating a plan going forward.”

Lady Eli, a $160,000 KEESEP yearling and $160,000 KEEAPR juvenile (click here for catalogue page), was bred in Kentucky by Runnymede Farm Inc. and Catesby W. Clay. Produced by the winning Saint Ballado mare Sacre Coeur, she is a half-sister to MGSW Bizzy Caroline (Afleet Alex).

“We are obviously very hopeful that Lady Eli can make a return to racing, but there is long, long road to travel before that could ever happen,” Hanley warned. “For now, we are overjoyed to have her alive and, seemingly, comfortable.”
