JRA Active At Hokkaido Final Day

The Hokkaido Summer Yearling Sale concluded on Friday and it saw the Japan Racing Association (JRA) quite active throughout the day signing for two of the top five lots including the day's topper, lot 1295. The colt, a son of Screen Hero (Jpn) (Grass Wonder) was offered by his breeder Murakami Bokujo and was knocked down to JRA for ¥16,200,000 (US$161,221). The colt's dam, Neroli (Jpn) (Lammtarra) is a half-sister to graded stakes winner Shadow Gate (Jpn) (White Muzzle {GB}). Also going the way of the JRA was lot 1159, a colt by Eishin Flash (Jpn) (King's Best), offered by Matsuda Bokujo. This colt, a half-brother to Group 3 winner Iron Look (Jpn) (Admire Boss {Jpn}) was sold for ¥11,340,000 (US$112,899). Also popular was a colt by Sinister Minister (Old Trieste), offered by Miyauchi Bokujo as lot 1301 and selling to Masatoshi Suzuki for ¥14,580,000 (US$145,135). Darley's Hard Spun (Danzig) also featured at the top of proceedings when his son, lot 1195 commanded a price of ¥11,988,000 (US119,329) from North Hills Co. Ltd. The colt hails from the family of the GI Belmont S. and GI Preakness S. winner Tabasco Cat (Storm Cat).
