Jockey Club Appoints Chairmen

The Jockey Club has appointed new chairmen for Newmarket Racecourses, Jockey Club Estates, The National Stud and Carlisle Racecourse, with each appointment beginning on Jan. 1, 2018.

William Wyatt, chief executive of Caledonia Investments and a trustee of The Rank Foundation charity and a Thoroughbred breeder at Dukes Stud near Newmarket, will succeed Julian Richmond-Watson as chairman of Newmarket Racecourses. Wyatt has been a racecourse committee director of Newmarket Racecourses since 2015 and was one of eight new members elected to join The Jockey Club this year.

The Hon Peter Stanley, owner and manager of New England Stud and manager of Stanley House Stud, succeeds Andrew Merriam as chairman of Jockey Club Estates. Stanley has been a member of The Jockey Club since 2001 and was appointed a steward on its main board in 2014. He is currently chairman of The Jockey Club Rooms and The Racing Centre.

The Duke of Roxburghe, owner of Floors Stud, succeeds Ben Sangster as chairman of The National Stud. He was elected as a member of The Jockey Club in 1996 and appointed as a steward in 2007. He is involved in the day-to-day running of Roxburghe Estates and is a director of Circle Property. He has also been a director of a number of private companies, including Majestic Wines and Townhouse Hotels.

Penelope Mounsey-Heysham succeeds James Westoll as chairman at Carlisle Racecourse. Mounsey-Heysham manages the estate office of Castletown and is currently a racecourse committee director at Carlisle Racecourse.
