    Breeder: Watership Down Stud
    Consignor: Kiltinan Castle Stud
    Buyer: Mandore International Agency
Twyla Tharp, runner-up in the 2005 G2 Ribblesdale S., hardly needed an introduction as the dam of G1 Nassau S. victress The Fugue (GB) (Dansili {GB}), an unlucky third in last month's GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf, and the 10-year-old Hip 1511 lit up the Park Paddocks exchange board when selling to Nicolas de Watrigant's Mandore International Agency, on behalf of an undisclosed client, for a session-busting 1.7-million guineas. Offered in foal to Oasis Dream by Lady Lloyd-Webber's Kiltinan Castle Stud, she drew an opening bid of 500,000gns before de Watrigant joined the action at the 1.4-million mark, and he remained firm to outlast David Ingordo. Twyla Tharp is a half-sister to Group 1 winners Summoner (GB) (Inchinor {GB}) and Compton Admiral (GB) (Suave Dancer). "She is a beautiful mare, the dam of a champion and has the best pedigree in this catalogue," commented de Watrigant. "Her Oasis Dream foal will be retained--my client likes his racing. We have not yet thought about the next stallion, you have to get them bought first."
