Wednesday's day two of the Tattersalls October Sale saved the best for last, or at least third-last, as hip 383, a Lodge Park Stud-consigned full-sister to this year's G1 Investec Oaks heroine Was (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}--Alluring Park {Ire}, by Green Desert) was hammered down to Nicolas de Watrigant's Mandore International Agency for a session-best 1.5 million guineas (about $2,520,899). "She is one that you would like on your farm," said buyer Nicholas de Watrigant. "She is a lovely filly with a Classic pedigree, and she moves very well. She will be trained in France." Bloodstock agent James Delahooke was part of the early exchanges on the Feb. 10 foal, but it was de Watrigant, who does bidding for Sheikh Joaan al Thani, and John Magnier of Coolmore, which race Was, took the bidding into seven figures. This particular purchase, however, was not for Al Thani, but rather for an unnamed "client of the agency," de Watrigant reported. Galileo accounted for the day's top five yearlings. His 23 yearlings to sell have accounted for over 10.6 million guineas in turnover for an average of 462,174gns. Five have achieved pricetags in excess of 900,000gns.
