A short time after Australian mining magnate Paul Fudge purchased a colt by Montjeu (Ire) for 725,000gns, he was back at it through his bloodstock advisor Michael Goodbody, stretching to 900,000gns (about $1,512,296) for a Galileo (Ire) filly bred by Denis Brosnan's Epona Bloodstock Ltd. and consigned by his Croom House Stud. Fudge and American Marc Keller were left to battle things out past the 700,000gns mark, and Keller's ship originally sailed following a Goodbody bid of 850,000gns. He reconsidered and made one final play at 875,000gns, but ultimately conceded defeat to Goodbody and Fudge. The Irish-bred miss is a daughter of Witch of Fife (Lear Fan), whose Galileo offspring have been universally well-received at public auction. Her 2007 produce, Cabaret (Ire), was a 300,000 euros purchase at Goffs, won the G3 Silver Flash S. and made 600,000gns when offered at Tatts' December sale last year. A 2-year-old sister to hip 356, now named Fafa O O (Ire), fetched 850,000gns from Sir Robert Ogden last October and ranked as the second higest-priced lot in Book 1 last year. Witch of Fife is the dam of a weanling filly of this year by Galileo's son New Approach (Ire).
