TDN MAGAZINE, The International Difference: Part III of A Painful Truth: "Welfare in Europe means to train the horse without any chemicals and make him race if he can face the challenge,” says France Galop's Dr. Roland Devolz. “In your country, welfare means to be allowed to use as many drugs as possible to ensure the horse will support training and race." Whose version is right? Part 3 of A Painful Truth examines North America's singular stance on medication. Download part three by clicking here.

2-year-old CElusive Quality--Gypsy Hollow$350,000
    Breeder: Fares Farm (KY)
Buyer: Hill 'n' Dale Bloodstock, agent
Consignor: Niall Brennan Stables, agent IX

A colt by Elusive Quality, who zipped a quarter mile in :21 1/5 during the third under-tack show (video), was knocked down to Hill 'n' Dale Bloodstock, agent, for $350,000 during the late stages of Wednesday session of the OBS June Sale in Ocala. Consigned to the sale by Niall Brennan Stables, agent, hip 653 was making his second trip through a sales pavilion, having been bought back on a bid of $180,000 when offered as a yearling at last year's Keeneland September Sale. By the sire of winners of such races as the GI Kentucky Derby, GI Breeders' Cup Classic and G1 Golden Slipper S., the May 24 foal is a son of Gypsy Hollow (Dixieland Band), making him a half-brother to French SW & GSP Gipson Dessert (Orientate) and Dixie Emperor (Purge), a multiple stakes winner in Venezuela.
