Divine Oath (c, 3, Broken Vow--Rejoicing, by Forestry)--a well-beaten second behind last weekend's GI Belmont Derby upsetter Mr Speaker (Pulpit) in the GIII Coolmore Lexington S. over the Keeneland Polytrack Apr. 19--lined up as a 7-2 chance in Saturday's GIII American Derby at Arlington Park after finishing fourth in the grassy $500,000 Penn Mile S. May 31. Settled in midpack while receiving a ground-saving trip through fractions of :23.60 and :48.54, Divine Oath awaited racing room on the far turn. With Florent Geroux in the irons, Divine Oath found a seam in mid-stretch and punched home nicely from along the inside to nail European invader Our Channel (English Channel) by a half length. Highball (Lemon Drop Kid) was third. The final time for 1 3/16 miles was 1:56.50. Divine Oath kicked off his career with two straight wins over the Gulfstream lawn earlier this term prior to his two aforementioned stakes tries. Sales History: $200,000 yrl '12 KEESEP.
