Off the mark on debut over this trip at Chantilly Apr. 28, Cladocera followed up in professional manner here to justify her trainer’s faith. Settled in a clear second early as the pace proved generous, the bay struck the front passing the quarter pole and quickly asserted to leave the closers a hopeless task. “This is a really nice filly who I nearly put in Sunday’s G2 Prix de Sandringham, but I decided she was probably too tender for that at present,” trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre said. “I think she will develop into a good one. The ground was slightly on the soft side here, which was better for her than the fast ground at Chantilly on Sunday and she did it quite nicely. I don’t know yet where she will go, but I would imagine it will be the G3 Prix Chloe [at Chantilly June 30] is ideal.”
