10th at PIMGII Black-Eyed Susan S. ($500k)  [1 1/8m]Winner: Stopchargingmaria, f, 3 by Tale Of The Cat
Repole Stable's Stopchargingmaria raced inside and midfield passing under the wire for the first time in Friday's GII Black-Eyed Susan S., but was guided to the outside and into the clear as they raced down the backstretch. Last year's GII Demoiselle S. winner advanced steadily into contention while deep on the turn and had the pace-pressing Vero Amore (Mineshaft) in the cross-hairs as the field came into the final furlong and a half. The latter proved a most stubborn foe and led deep into the final furlong, but despite covering the extra ground and doing it toughest, Stopchargingmaria refused to relent and proved a neck best in the finish. She stopped the clock in 1:51.79 for the nine furlongs on a drying-out main track labeled 'good.' The 10 3/4-length winner of last year's GIII Tempted S. ahead of the Demoiselle, Stopchargingmaria returned with a fifth to her ill-fated stablemate Onlyforyou (Malibu Moon) in the GII Davona Dale S. Feb. 22 and was most recently fourth in the GII Fantasy S. Apr. 5.
