Danza (c, 3, Street Boss--Champagne Royale, by French Deputy), a close third in the GII Saratoga Special S. last summer, pulled off a 41-1 upset in the GI Arkansas Derby. A well-beaten third in a seven-furlong $100,000 optional tagger at Gulfstream last time Mar. 1, the chestnut was making his first attempt around two turns here. With Joe Bravo aboard, Danza sat the trip from his inside draw in third through fractions of :23.72 and :47.71. He snuck through an opening along the inside at the top of the stretch and kicked on nicely down the lane to score by five explosive lengths. Ride On Curlin (Curlin) was along for second. Bayern (Offlee Wild) stayed on for third. The final time for 1 1/8 miles was 1:49.68. Lifetime Record: 4-2-0-2.
