Thank You Marylou debuted with a 3 3/4-length victory in the Tippett S. over the Colonial turf last July and finished third, promoted to second, in the Aug. 11 GII Adirondack S. in her second outing. Making her first start since, the chestnut stalked the pace from third as heavy favorite Sweet Whiskey cut out fractions of :22.71 and :45.31. As the favorite began to tire turning for home, Thank You Marylou was finding her best gear three wide and she glided easily to the lead to win going away. “I had a perfect trip, sitting third on the outside in the clear,” said winning rider Julien Leparoux. “When I asked her to go, she just took off. She's a very nice filly. It was the first time I've been on her, so it was a good surprise.” Evelio Chavez, assistant to trainer Mike Maker, added, “She's been training really well since she came back. Mike has done a really good job with her. It's really unbelievable that she could run like that off the layoff. Sometimes horses need the race when they've been off for so long, but she proved that she's a runner. That's her style--she likes to be behind horses and then run." Click for the chart or VIDEO.
