   GOLDENCENTS
had already proven an affinity for this strip with victories in the GIII Sham S. and GI Santa Anita Derby, and turned in a powerful front-running performance here over a track that may have been to his advantage. Stretching out from a runner-up finish in the GI Santa Anita Sprint Championship Oct. 5, the 7-2 shot was quarter-horsed to the lead and took pressure through splits of :22.12 and :44.75 as the field was strung out over a long distance. He shook free at the head of the lane, and comfortably held off a late bid from Golden Ticket to score by three or four lengths in 1:35.12. Brujo de Olleros was third, while favored Verrazano (More Than Ready) could do no better than fourth with some trouble.
