0th at SAGI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf ($1 million)  [1m (T)]Winner: Outstrip (GB), c, 2 by Exceed and Excel (Aus)
Godolphin colorbearer OUTSTRIP (GB) (c, 2, Exceed and Excel {Aus}--Asi Siempre, by El Prado {Ire}) led home a one-two for the European contingent to provide Mike Smith, the winningest jockey in Breeders’ Cup history, with the first two wins of this 30th renewal of the championships. Favored Bobby’s Kitten (Kitten’s Joy) took up his place on the front end, posting ambitious early fractions of :22.27 and :45.70 as Outstrip took up a spot well back along the inside. Giovanni Boldini (War Front) was the first to confront the pacesetter, and engaged in a spirited duel with that rival as Outstrip switched to the outside for a clear run. Showing off an electric turn of foot, the 6-1 shot mowed the top two down to win going away by 3/4 of a length in 1:33.20. Bobby’s Kitten held third. Outstrip, winner of the G2 Champagne S. at Doncaster, was most recently third in the G1 Dewhurst S. at Newmarket Oct. 12. Lifetime Record: GSW-Eng, 5-3-1-1.
