6th at SAXGII Breeders' Cup Marathon ($500K)  [1 3/4m]Winner: London Bridge, c, 3 by Arch
New York-bred European invader London Bridge (c, 3, Arch--Kindness {GB}, by Indian Ridge {Ire}) outstayed his competition in the 1 3/4-mile GII Breeders’ Cup Marathon to outrun his 9-1 odds and win by a length in 2:58.32. Blueskiesnrainbows (English Channel) was second. The Jo Hughes-trained 3-year-old was coming off a fourth-place run in Deauville’s 1 7/8-mile Prix Michael Houyvet Aug. 15. Tracking from mid-pack behind a quick pace on a track that had been favoring speed, the bay seemed like he needed to do more turning for home, but he kept on down the center of the track and bounded clear in the final sixteenth to win going away. He becomes the first New York-bred winner of a Breeders’ Cup race. Lifetime Record: 9-4-0-1.
