After the withdrawal of Darwin (Big Brown) due to the rain-softened ground, his compatriot Fiesolana was left to fulfil the role of favorite and fully justified that with a straightforward fourth Pattern-race success. Fifth last time in the G1 Matron S. over a mile at Leopardstown Sept. 7, the bay, who was sent off the 3-1 pick, was restrained in mid-division early by Billy Lee and after being given the go-ahead cut down the German raider Amarillo (Ire) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}) with 150 yards remaining en route to a two-length success, with Libranno (GB) (Librettist) 2 1/2 lengths further back in third.
