Treasured Up had not been on a dirt track since finishing third in a maiden race at Fair Grounds in January of 2012, but she turned in a performance that might have made an impact in the track-and-trip GI Delaware H. next Saturday. Grade III-placed on the lawn and an allowance winner on Polytrack as a sophomore, the dark bay kicked off her 2013 season with a narrow optional claiming score at Fair Grounds Mar. 14. Third in a Keeneland allowance Apr. 12, she rallied from far back to grab Churchill’s Keertana S. last time May 18. Installed as the odds-on choice in a race hurt badly by surface-switch induced scratches, Treasured Up was a bit headstrong past the stands for the first time as she traveled in the middle of the bunched-up field of five. Still wanting to do more as she tugged away at pilot Shaun Bridgmohan from the three path down the backside, the chalk loomed an ominous presence as she asserted nearing the lane. She spurted clear at the top of the straight, and was always doing plenty to hold Angel Terrace safe.
