Not expected to upstage her Classic-placed stable companion Moth (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) here, Venus de Milo nevertheless attracted support on the back of a winning debut over 12 furlongs at Fairyhouse June 12. Tardily away, the bay was held up towards the rear by Seamie Heffernan early and was angled wide in upper stretch as Moth stayed in and got caught up in traffic. Swooping wide, she showed impressive verve to cut down the duelling Opera Gloves and Bunairgead with 75 yards remaining en route to a decisive success. "She showed a lot as a younger filly at home, but Aidan [O’Brien] didn’t want to run her until she was ready," Heffernan commented. "She surprised me a bit at Fairyhouse when the penny dropped and won easily. She has a bit of class and I wanted to teach her a bit."
