Royal Delta (Empire Maker), the two-time defending GI Breeders' Cup Distaff champion and eight-length winner of the 2012 GII Fleur de Lis H., was pounded into 1-5 favoritism to rediscover her winning ways after a 10th in the G1 Dubai World Cup Mar. 30. But John Oxley's Funny Proposition (f, 4, Medaglia d'Oro--Humorous Miss, by Distorted Humor) had different ideas, as she was given a positive ride by Joel Rosario, set a solid pace, turned back a bid from Royal Delta in upper stretch and kicked away from the tired-looking champ to register a four-length victory. An allowance winner on the main track beneath the Twin Spires last May, Funny Proposition raced on this program, finishing a well-beaten eighth to Centre Court (Smart Strike) in the grassy GIII Regret S. An allowance third over the Keeneland Poly Apr. 14, Funny Proposition was most recently a three-length victress going this track's one-turn mile May 17.
