6th at BELMsw ($70k)  [6f]Winner: Oldwick, c, 3 by Street Boss
6th-BEL, $70,000, Msw, 3yo/up, 6f, 1:10 2/5, ft.
+OLDWICK (c, 3, Street Boss--Varnish, by Cox's Ridge) was dispatched the 2-1 second choice to even-money Distorted Dream (Distorted Humor), and what appeared a two-horse race on paper proved to be just that. First out of the stalls, Oldwick was eased back into a stalking second for Javier Castellano as the chalk had a fairly easy time of it on the engine. The half-brother to SW & MGSP Swingforthefences (Read the Footnotes) came after the pacesetter in earnest approaching the stretch, edged past nearing the eighth pole and reported home a half-length winner. A $77,000 FTKJUL yearling acquisition, Oldwick breezed an eighth of a mile in :10 1/5 and was hammered down to bloodstock agent Steve Young for $825,000 at the 2012 Fasig-Tipton Florida sale at Palm Meadows. He was the most expensive of 22 first-crop juveniles to sell for his sire in 2012. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $42,000. Click for the chart or VIDEO.
