One of Ballydoyle’s premier juveniles in 2012 after second and third-place finishes in the G2 Norfolk S. at Royal Ascot in June and G1 Middle Park S. at Newmarket in October respectively, Gale Force Ten kicked off his Classic campaign in style on his first start on the Polytrack since his debut. Beaten just two neck margins by Reckless Abandon (GB) (Exchange Rate) in the Middle Park when last seen, the bay who sports cheekpieces was trying seven furlongs for the first time and his task was made easier by the withdrawal of the stalls-shy Cougar Ridge (Johannesburg). Disputing the lead early, he enjoyed a decisive advantage by halfway and only needed to be shaken up to assert his superiority over his rivals. "We thought he might be a French Guineas type of horse and looking at that, I’d say he’ll get a mile and he loves fast ground," Aidan O’Brien told Irish Racing Online.
