2nd at GPXAlw ($58k)  [1 1/16m (T)]Winner: Summer of Fun, f, 3 by Include
2nd-GPX, $47,850, Alw, Opt. Clm. ($75,000), NW1X, 3yo, f, 1 1/16mT, 1:40 1/5, fm.
SUMMER OF FUN (f, 3, Include--Royal Innocence, by Royal Anthem) graduated second out routing over the Saratoga sod in late August. Stepping up in class, she never factored when 10th over the yielding Woodbine turf in the GII Natalma S. Sept. 15 and took a tough beat when she was a close third in the GIII Jessamine S. at Keeneland Oct. 11. The Bona Venture colorbearer closed impressively in the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf to get up for third Nov. 2. Summer of Fun, who was running without Lasix, was back to action here as the 8-5 favorite. The filly was away well and rated just off the pace in second. She asserted for the lead on the turn and pulled clear down the stretch to win under a hand ride by 3 1/2 lengths. Skyfall (More Than Ready) was second. Summer of Fun is out of a half-sister to Star King Man (Kingmambo), a multiple stakes winner in Japan, who banked over $3 million in earnings; and GI Mervyn Leroy H. winner Louis Cyphre (Ire) (Niniski).
