PICK OF THE LITTER (c, 3, Kitten’s Joy--Eagle Sound, by Fusaichi Pegasus) showed little when ninth going a mile over the Gulfstream lawn Feb. 2, but he looked like a new horse in this off-the-turfer. Sent off at 7-1 while facing only three rivals, the chestnut shadowed Overwhelming (Hard Spun) along the inside through an opening quarter in :23.17, then backed off a bit to race in third through a half mile in :46.86. Ridden along on the far turn to keep pace, he revved up with a three-wide move entering the stretch, and took off nicely down the lane to graduate by 7 1/2 lengths. Overwhelming held second by a neck over favored Moro Tap (Tapit). Sales history: $150,000 yrl '11 KEESEP; $14,000 RNA wlng '10 KEENOV. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-0, $25,620. Click for the chart or VIDEO.
