Swift Warrior, winner of the 2011 Rushaway S., came up just a bit short in several graded stakes last year. Third by a half-length in the GIII Tampa Bay S., he bounced back from an eighth to Wise Dan (Wiseman’s Ferry) in the GI Shadwell Turf Mile to close out 2012 with a 3/4-length loss in the GIII River City H. at Churchill Nov. 25. He was favored to make amends here, and made no mistakes by going straight to the lead from his rail post. The chestnut continued rolling as he entered the stretch and came home a popular winner.
