TDN MAGAZINE, The International Difference: Part III of A Painful Truth: "Welfare in Europe means to train the horse without any chemicals and make him race if he can face the challenge,” says France Galop's Dr. Roland Devolz. “In your country, welfare means to be allowed to use as many drugs as possible to ensure the horse will support training and race." Whose version is right? Part 3 of A Painful Truth examines North America's singular stance on medication. Download part three by clicking here.

9th at GPXAlw/Opt. Clm. ($43.5k)  [1 1/16m]Winner: Flash Forward, f, 3 by Curlin
9th-GPX, $43,500, Alw, Opt. Clm. ($75,000), NW1X, 3yo, f, 1 1/16m, 1:45 2/5, ft.
FLASH FORWARD (f, 3, Curlin--Magical Flash, by Miswaki) was a non-factor in her first two appearances, both on the grass, finishing a wide ninth in a Saratoga maiden special Aug. 25 and fifth against $65,000 claimers at Belmont Sept. 13. She descended the class ladder a bit further and graduated against $50,000 company in an off-turf sprint in Elmont Oct. 19 with blinkers on for the first time, then gave a decent account of herself in the Nov. 24 GII Demoiselle S. at Aqueduct when fourth, but beaten only six lengths. A 6-1 shot in this allowance test, Flash Forward was void of early speed and lagged well back as Churchill maiden winner Heart Stealer (Speightstown) led on the stretchout. Still out the right side of the picture on the turn, Flash Forward began to slingshot past her rivals, challenged for the lead turning into the stretch and sustained her momentum to win it by 2 1/4 lengths Cloudy Vow was second. Flash Forward is a half-sister to Oysters (Prized), MSP, $224,050; Bright Magic (Prized), MSW, $212,393; Take the Ribbon (Chester House), GSW, $372,102; Flash Mash (Smarty Jones), SW-US, GSP-Fr, $231,843; and Glinda the Good (Hard Spun), MSW & GSP, $224,718. Sales history: $180,000 yrl '11 KEESEP. Lifetime Record: 5-2-0-0, $70,590. Click for the brisnet.com chart or Video replay.
