Bern Identity followed in the hoofsteps of stablemate My Adonis (Pleasantly Perfect), who took this race a year ago, and now he'll hope for a better finish in the $1-million GIII Delta Jackpot S. Nov. 17. The Hall colorbearer broke his maiden by an emphatic 13 3/4-length margin second out at Belmont June 1, and resurfaced to nab the GII Sanford S. at Saratoga July 22. He was coming off a third-place finish behind Shanghai Bobby (Harlan's Holiday) in the Spa's GII Three Chimneys Hopeful S. Sept. 3, and became the fourth next-out stakes winner from that event here. Breaking from the rail, the heavy chalk hugged the inside around the first turn from mid-pack. He was switched out for leg room by rider Paco Lopez down the backside and inched closer approaching the home bend. Bern Identity grabbed command at will with a sweeping move, and kicked home a convincing winner despite some greenness in the stretch. With the win, Bern Identity increased his connections's stakes record at Delta to 11-5-1-0 over the past five years. Click for the brisnet.com chart or Video, sponsored by Taylor Made Sales.
