   With all eyes on Australia's undefeated 2-year-old Triple Crown champion Pierro, Patinack Farm's All Too Hard was allowed to fly under the radar in this signature 3-year-old event. Pierro proved just how hard it is to stay perfect, and it was Black Caviar (Aus) (Bel Esprit {Aus})'s little brother who would swoop in and steal the spotlight. After topping last year's Inglis Easter Yearling Sale with a bid of A$1.025 million from Patinack Farm owner Nathan Tinkler, All Too Hard appeared to be the second coming of his champion elder sister when winning his first three starts, including a pair of Group 2s. All Too Hard suffered his first loss to Pierro when stepping up to Group 1 company in the G1 Sires' Produce S. at Randwick Apr. 14, and had disappointed in three starts this season, including a fourth against elders last out in the G1 George Main S. Sept. 22 at Randwick. Co-trained by Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes, All Too Hard was fitted with a barrier blanket, which has also been used with Black Caviar, for the first time here. Settling in last early, All Too Hard improved his position rounding the turn, made a six-wide bid, and used the length of the stretch to wear down Pierro and win going away. "He's a serious horse this one. He always has been," said Wayne Hawkes. "He's probably the best [colt] I've touched. This bloke's like Pierro's dad, Lonhro; he is in that class."
