TDN MAGAZINE, The International Difference: Part III of A Painful Truth: "Welfare in Europe means to train the horse without any chemicals and make him race if he can face the challenge,” says France Galop's Dr. Roland Devolz. “In your country, welfare means to be allowed to use as many drugs as possible to ensure the horse will support training and race." Whose version is right? Part 3 of A Painful Truth examines North America's singular stance on medication. Download part three by clicking here.

Fulbright was having his 12th start of the season here and showed that he can bounce back from a below-par run when sixth in last Saturday's Listed Guisborough S. at Redcar. Bouncing back is what the bay has done best this term, as he proved when putting two unplaced efforts behind him with a trio of top handicap scores on the July Course here and at Goodwood in mid-summer. After earning a first black-type success in the Listed Fortune S. over a mile at Sandown Sept. 19, he had become stuck in the deep conditions prevalent at Redcar just a week ago. Racing prominently early among the group racing up the center of the track, he was put to work by Joe Fanning passing the three-furlong marker and toiled to wear down the enterprisingly-ridden Red Jazz (Johannesburg) in the final 50 yards. "He's had a hard year, but he's a good little horse who is tough and bounces back well," Fanning said.
