+LANANSAAK (IRE) (f, 2, Zamindar--Bunood {Ire} {GSP-Eng}, by Sadler's Wells), sent off the 5-2 favorite, missed the kick by a half-beat before racing freely under restraint trapped wide in mid-division. Working her way to the front with a quarter mile remaining, the homebred asserted under mainly hand riding to best Intiba (Street Cry {Ire}), the daughter of Danelagh (Aus) (Danehill) and half-sister to Vengeance of Rain (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}), by 1 1/2 lengths. "I thought she'd run well today and show a bit of promise, but her ability got her through the race and she got to the front quite comfortably," trainer Roger Varian commented. "That was encouraging and I'm not sure there is enough time between this race and the G1 Fillies' Mile [at Newmarket Sept. 28] to run again, so my first hunch is to say she's doubtful for that. We have options into the autumn and I would have thought she'd probably go a mile next time, as she has a middle-distance pedigree and hopefully can go on to better things."
