TDN MAGAZINE, As the Science Gets Better, Catching the Cheats Becomes Easier: Part V of A Painful Truth: No matter the sport, cheaters have always stayed one step ahead of those trying to catch them by doping with as-yet undetectable products. But what if authorities didn't need to determine what the products were, only what the specimin should look like if unaltered by any drug? Meet the biological passport, and Travis Tygart, the man who has successfully routed out two of sports' most defiant cheats, Lance Armstrong and Marion Jones, neither of whom had ever tested positive.    My Best Brother didn't do much running when unveiled sprinting on the main track here a year ago, but he resurfaced this spring and donned cap and gown two starts later going six panels on the Betfair Hollywood Park lawn May 27. The homebred had no trouble with the stretch-out to a mile back in Inglewood a month after that, and took the second division of the Oceanside S. here on Opening Day over a trio of re-opposing foes. The bay was coming off a nose defeat at the hooves of Old Time Hockey (Smarty Jones) in the GII La Jolla H. here Aug. 11, and had to carry his speed an extra sixteenth this time.
Zipping straight to the lead at the bell, My Best Brother grabbed clear early command as favorite Howe Great was hung wide on the first turn after breaking from the far-outside post. He doled out quick, but comfortable splits as Howe Great watched intently from third, and My Best Brother blew the race open on the turn as he extended his advantage. Howe Great tried to make up the difference in the lane, but My Best Brother was always doing enough to strike the line a convincing winner.
