KINZ FUNKY MONKEY (f, 2, The Green Monkey--Pretty Ready, by More Than Ready) pressed the pace before tiring to third in her course-and-distance debut July 22. In her next, she sprinted out to a commanding 9 1/2-length lead, but folded late and had to settle for second, beaten a half-length. More composed this time around, the 7-1 chance sat off the hip of the 3-5 pacesetter Imwiththeblond (Montbrook), but drifted out a bit as they cornered for home. She kept on fighting, however, and drove past the chalk in the final sixteenth before holding the late-rallying Wednesday (Medaglia d'Oro) safe by a neck.
