DELIGHTFUL QUALITY (f, 3, Elusive Quality--Contrive, by Storm Cat) looks to have a promising future as she matures. The Darley homebred was second, having finished 4 1/2 lengths behind Moment in Dixie (Dixieland Band) after a wide trip going six panels at Belmont in her debut Apr. 29; Moment in Dixie came back to win impressively in a Belmont allowance June 3. The 1-2 chalk forged to the front early here and dueled with Lucky My Way (High Cotton) through the turn. The dark bay separated herself from the pack at the head of the stretch and cruised to a 6 3/4-length victory. Lucky My Way was second. The winner is a half to Folklore (Tiznow), Ch. 2yo Filly, MGISW, $945,500. A few days after Folklore's win in the 2005 GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies, her dam Contrive was purchased for $3 million by John Ferguson at the Fasig-Tipton November sale. Contrive has a 2-year-old Tiznow colt named Calculated. After producing an A.P. Indy filly last April, she was bred back to Tiznow. Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, $56,000.
