The word was out and the racy bay was sent off as the 7-10 chalk to score at first asking. Beaten for speed early on by the Wesley Ward-trained filly Shrinking Violet (Congaree), Special Jo ranged up outside that one leaving the three-eighths pole, put her away in upper stretch and jumped off his right lead late, but was six lengths clear at the wire.
