Stephanie's Kitten won her maiden over yielding Arlington turf Aug. 5, then rallied from last to finish third in the GIII Natalma S. at Woodbine Sept. 17. The homebred closed the season on a roll, clearing off to win the GI Darley Alcibiades S. on the Keeneland Poly Oct. 7 and outfinished Stopshoppingmaria (More Than Ready) to win the GII Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies' Turf Nov. 4. She made something of a belated start to her 3-year-old season, finishing third at even money in the GI Ashland S. Apr. 7, and was favored here with a possible trip to Royal Ascot in the offing. Fourth and in tight quarters from between horses for the opening three-quarters of a mile, Stephanie's Kitten responded when asked at the quarter pole, surged to the front soon after and held sway late.
